Great Book! Highly recommend: "When Love is Not Enough" by Nancy Thomas. Nancy also has a great website with attachment resources.
"The Connected Child" by Karyn Purvis. Her website has great attachment and sensory info.
Christine Moers has some great YouTube videos on therapeutic parenting.
A 4ever Family has great articles and resources on attachment and trauma related issues.
Attachment and Trauma Network - you can become a member and have access to online trainings.
Recommended Therapists (for Maricopa County, AZ):
These are therapists that other foster and adoptive families have reported they would recommend. I will add to this list as I hear of more. There is also a place on the Foster Parent Forum to list resources, so if you have some to add to this list, please share that info there!
• Steven Herbert – Jewish Family (JFCS) – play therapy (parent-child, teaches the parent)
• Betsy Levitt – A New Leaf – play therapy
• Natasha Daniels – Hill Child Counseling (does not appear to contract with CPS, maybe for adopted kiddos? Does accept insurance.)
• Susan Davis – Terros Stablization (CPS CM must put in referral for crisis stabilization with Terros and specify Susan Davis – NOT a counseling referral) – works with child and parents together, gives therapeutic techniques related to play therapy and attachment activities for parents to use in the home. Short-term intervention (about 3mos., more intensive , longer sessions (more than one hour) or more frequent sessions during the week (more than one day per week)).
• Venus Jacobus – JFCS Mesa
